Chicago is unique with its varying weather between the humid summers, rainy springs and snowy winters. We’ve noted that these have a significant effect on windows in the city. Through our years of experience as being a leading window installation and replacement window company in Chicago, we have put together a few points of what we have learned.
Summer
During the humid summers, you’ll probably see large amounts of condensation on the inside of the windows. This is because of the extra moisture in the air that condenses on the cool glass. The moisture may leave wet patches on the glass and may drip and run off.
Spring
In the spring time when we have the most rain, the biggest effect on the windows is that they get dirty! The extra rain brings with it mud, dirt and grime that will sit on the outside of your windows. So give it a wash!
Winter
In the icy and snowy winters, you’ll notice two things. One is the condensation on the inside of your window due to large temperature difference between inside and outside. Secondly, you’ll see frost setting on the outside of your windows. In extremely cold cases these can cause the glass to crack, so choose a strong tempered glass for any outside windows.
