Keep windows and doors locked when it is windy, even when you are at home.

Identify windows that are weak or broken and replace them early on.

If you live in a high crime rate area, then consider using laminated glass for extra security as these are more difficult for intruders to penetrate.

When opening a window for ventilation, open only those located above a child’s reach.

Keep furniture away from windows so that children cannot climb onto them and out of the window.

Choose windows that have limited open mechanisms to prevent falls from windows (however ensure they have quick release mechanisms that can be activated in case of an emergency).

Teach your family members how to safely use a window to escape in such emergencies as a fire.
